Resources

Atlanta/Georgia

One of our goals is to strengthen referrals between the homelessness system and the civil legal system in Atlanta so that no young people fall through the cracks. We collaborated with partners to develop this civil legal resource and referral guide. It assists front-line staff to identify the best referral pathway for civil legal issues that arise while serving young people. The guide is organized by legal topic.

SLCY doesn't provide direct legal representation for youth and young adults yet, but is planning to in the future.

Legal Practice Guides

The National Homelessness Law Center's practice guide seeks to educate advocates and attorneys about best practices for challenging and preventing termination of services for youth and young adults across several housing programs, including identifying funding sources, ensuring compliance with current guidelines regarding “safe and appropriate exits,”  and filing law suits when and if necessary.
